December 1941

This well written account by Craig Shirley takes the reader as close as one can come to experiencing this historic month. The book is broken up into chapters, with each chapter retelling the story of one day of the month. What I found to be fascinating is the way that the book not only tells the stories of what is happening in the war, and overseas, but it tells so much of what the mindset of the American people at home was. I enjoyed this book so much that I gave it to a WW2 veteran friend of mine and he is enjoying it as well.

Three Cups by Tony Townsley with Mark St. Germain

This is a must have for any adult who has children in their lives. The aim is to introduce to children a way of life that is creative, kind, thoughtful, simple and beneficial to all. I highly recommend it for teaching values about saving money, being charitable and spending appropriately. Not only is it instructive to children but it is also a useful concept for adults, especially in these economically distressed times. At a time when there is so much greed and focus on material things I am happy to have a way of showing my grandchildren the joy of giving. This is truly a wonderful book.

Joyful in the Lord

The scriptures command us to have joy in the Lord. This is my goal...to find my joy in the Lord even in the hard circumstances. It's easy to be joyful when everything is going our way but how much more so do we need joy when we are undergoing trials. I shall delight in the ways of the Lord continually.
